Windows 98 Static IP Setup
Start out by clicking
on the Start Button and then go to the Control
Panel. Once you get to the Control Panel look for an
icon named Network. It should look like the one
below.

Once you have opened the Network Properties page you
will search for an entry at the bottom that will
begin with TCP/IP -> The name of the card will vary
from PC to PC. In this example the PC that the
screen shots were taken had an SMC EZ Card. On your
computer it will have the brand and model of your
Network Card.
Once you find the TCP/IP -> card for your computer
click on it so that it is high lighted and then
click on the Properties button.

A new window will open up. You should start out with
the IP Address tab. If you did not open to that tab
just click on the IP Address tab. By default the
“Obtain an IP address automatically” option will be
chosen. Click on Specify an IP address. In the IP
address field type in the IP address that has been
assigned to you. In the Subnet Mask field make sure
that you have 255.255.255.252

Now click on the Gateway tab. In the New Gateway
field type in your assigned Gateway. Once you have
typed it in click on the Add button.

You are almost done, just one more tab to click on.
Now click on the DNS tab. First you need to click
Enable DNS. Then in the host field type in your
assigned Host name. In the Domain filed type in
americainter.net
Now go down to the DNS Server Search Order. In the
input field type in 66.255.76.10 and then click on
Add. Then again in the input field type in
66.255.77.10 and click on Add.

Now just click on OK to close the TCP/IP Properties
window. Then click OK to close the Network. Window
may ask you for your Windows 95/98/Me CD. If asked
insert your CD. Windows will ask you if you would
like to restart your computer. Answer yes.
Once your
computer finishes rebooting you will be ready to
surf the web! |
